Shamaine Ford LCSW

I became a therapist because I saw how important mental health was and the impact it had in the community I lived in as a child. I believe the human mind is like a flower. If you nurture it, it will grow. My therapy model is to look at any obstacles from a strength-based perspective and to build on those attributes. Other evidence-based models I practice are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and teaching mindfulness.

I have worked in the social work field for 15 years helping children and families while being culturally competent. I obtained a B.A. in Psychology (minor in Sociology) from Cal State University of Los Angeles, and Masters of Social Work with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential, Child Welfare and Attendance from The University of Southern California.  I help clients from a Solution-Focus model. It is my goal and passion to be help others mentally through many obstacles.
Ultimately, the client is the driver and I am the passenger to assist with the navigation to reach the destination.
